FESTIVAL 23 - the convergence of disco......
Was quite simply a triumph!
On a festival level it was a joy, toilets cleaned regularly, security present but discreet.
And annoyingly quick with witty replies to my witty retorts! Intelligence with strength.
There, I had the last word...😊
On a creative level I would say give it 'more' than maximum points. The presence of 'Aftermath Principle' by Jimmy Cauty (KLF with Bill Drummond) upped the points to over max here.
It's always difficult to see everything, at any festival. But the waft of creative intelligence permeated the three days while we were there.
Standouts for me? Well a big thanks to Stephen McKay for letting me drive his beloved Mini Moke!
And I just 'got' Richard Norris on FRIDAY NIGHT And he 'got' us!
A thoughtful set that moved through genre's and back with pleasure.
More please Richard. 😊
SATURDAY AFTERNOON was lit up - firstly by a perfect rainbow, and secondly by Planet 9 on the main stage.
Jo Sims and Tommy Tuff produced what for me was the stand out live performance. Onstage with J Boney they stormed it. Jo Sims vocal is pitch perfect, and matched against Tommy the effect is chemistry.
(Tommy Tuff has the most amazing stream of consciousness word power I have ever heard.)
SATURDAY NIGHT saw me listening to Greg Wilson.
I'm not a DJ, but I know a good mix when I hear it, this was a special set - It looked like he had a reel to reel on stage with him? (i'm not a teq)
Greg still managed to cool as he was making the whole place move with dance. The vibe was Just smiles, and smiles.
Then toward's the end, just as you thought it was all over.... "It's a God awful small affair..." ♥️
Bowie - a lovely tribute sung by everyone! We all felt it!
Just when you thought it was over 2 ... I'm sure I saw Tim Holmes wink a permission for the other tribute song. "Sign of the times." We miss you Prince.😍
