All In Your Head

The show is a pay what you can event, with tickets starting at £0 to be truly accessible to all who need it. - We Like this xx
All In Your Head has been created and Directed by Lucy Dear to bring these stories to light, performed by Naomi Sparrow from the script of internationally recognised Safaa Benson-Effiom. These are just a few of the many women involved in this project, who all have their reasons for why they are so passionate about making sure this story is heard, and championing safety for women and children. Originally set to be performed at feminist festival Calm Down, Dear from Camden People’s Theatre, funding from Arts Council England has now allowed it to pivot to a digital performance instead.
The show has been developed with Wellbeing Practitioner Lou Platt of I May Destroy You and seeks to be educational, offer healing, and answer the always heard “why didn’t they leave?” in a considerate and thoughtful way.
It is an unfortunate fact that as the pandemic goes on, so does the shadow pandemic too. The statistics of Domestic Abuse have been shocking throughout the pandemic, with support services receiving a 900% increase in referrals, and reports made to police increasing too. The statistics are difficult to comprehend, but each statistic represents the real story and experience of somebody who needs help and support.
Following the performance will be a panel discussion with survivors and sector voices, to make sure the audience continues to think about the crucial message.
For further information, I’ve attached the flier and press release for you. We would be grateful for any support you could give this show, whether that’s in a professional or personal capacity. If there is a chance for you to professionally promote it, the cast and crew are available for interviews, to write first person op-eds about domestic abuse or share how the show has come together.
