talks 'Forever For Goodbye'
Ok I'm a fan of Cynthia, 'blushes'... I spoke to her earlier in the year - read here and well - she's gorgeous talented, kind, inside & out well what are ya gonna do? :-) best pauliepaul x
Hello Cynthia, I love this track, I feel the emotion, (as I do in all of your songs... :-) is it special to you?
Hi Paulie, yes, this remix of 'Forever For Goodbye' is near & dear to my heart.
It's a project I've been working on, returning to, and engaging in for the last few years. It feels really good to get it to a good place - and let it go!
Where does a song like this originate, it seems to have taken on a new life?
The song was originally written for a film pitch. The original version has little to do with this take, for me. We were going for something epic - hence the big hooks and pop treatments. This version is a long form remix. It's much more experimental.
On Production?
I produced this one. I had a lot of great bits and pieces to choose from. Collecting sounds and beats and synths - the clever part was putting it all together in a way that keeps building and hopefully keeps one's interest. My main production collaborator was Thomas Ross Johansen. During our sessions he broke out some amazing authentic
analog synth machines! Those sounds were key.

About The Song?
(although...I'm a big fan of the French philosopher 'Roland Barthes', in particular his 'Death of The Author' essay...just saying...pp xx)
The songwriting is lovelorn on the surface, but to me, it's always been about expansion. Taking that idea of having "forever to say goodbye" - well knowing we all have our own interpretations of timelessness, endings, death, break-ups. Someone near and dear to my heart was a part of the MarsOne project - a contest for space habitation, building our first off planet civilization on Mars. At the time this was written, I was immersed in thinking about losing someone to space travel - it was unimaginable, ya know? Like all of life's more interesting moments, putting those sentiments into the work helps me with processing. The remix is an offshoot of those ideas, taking it one step further into the concepts of life, death, near-death experiences - those literal and existential conversations. Re-creating that journey. That's what I was trying to evoke with the video and the sound design.
Thank you x
