PETER ASHWORTH
Peter Ashworth, the legendary photographer, presents ‘mavericks’, his first solo exhibition, at The Gallery Liverpool. Join us for a preview of the exhibition on Friday, 1 June from 6-9pm.
Ashworth famously photographed Soft Cell, Eurythmics, Blancmange, The The, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, The Smiths, Tina Turner, Julian Cope and The Clash and more. Mari Wilson, whom he also photographed, featured him in a lyric.
“I've got a mink from Paris, a ring from RomeA whole new wardrobe in my homeA tune from Teddy, an Ashworth snapThese are the landmarks on my mapI've got just what I always wanted”Mari Wilson, ‘Just what I always wanted’(music & lyrics by Tot Taylor / © Songmatic Music)
The exhibition will feature a collection of works, personally selected from his archive, reflecting the pop aesthetic of the 1980s. He still works in music and fashion photography and is in the process of creating a more complete digital archive.
