Roger Sargent
'All At Sea'
With Peter Doherty & the Puta Madres
Roger Sargent is from my limited experience, firstly - Very talented! Secondly Very busy! and Thirdly: Very talented!
In this very brief chat (hoping to continue very soon) I asked Roger about one of his latest projects. Namely 'All at Sea' with Peter Doherty and The Puta Madres - (What I really wanted to know was - What could possibly go wrong...)
Maybe in part two... best pp

Firstly I love the film Roger, I have to say. How do you begin making a film like 'All at Sea'?
I was allowed pretty much complete control creatively, but like with most of what I do, having an understanding of (and enthusiasm for) the people and the music kind of negates any worries.

Gorgeous location!
Absolutely, I'd been to the house in Étretat a few times before and that room, with the view, was always something that stuck with everyone. So when they decided to essentially build a studio in the house, then record a whole record in less that 5 days we knew it had to be documented.
Technical issues? Differences?
Originally Peter's manager Jai suggested having a camera or cameras running the whole time and leaving them there - but even for the 4-5 days the storage for one camera would have been enormous - so by way of compromise I suggested putting Gopros in and running them as a time-lapse. I was able to be there for the first couple of days luckily as 2 of the cameras failed due to the heat from the window - That room is like a greenhouse during the day!
Thanks Roger! TBC...
