Moulton Bicycles
The Moulton bicycle is a unique design with many features that set it apart from other bicycles. Back in the 1950s, Alex Moulton defined the key features of the Moulton bicycle - small wheels, suspension, stiff unisex frame, adaptability to suit intended use, and innovation in design, engineering and manufacture. Today, these principles still hold true, but the resulting bicycle is improved in every way - lighter, stiffer, faster and more comfortable, as well as easier to transport by road, rail or air.
One lovely memorable day a few years ago, I was being driven at speed through Wiltshire by my oldest bestest friend John P in his ridiculously fast BMW M135i. We had just been to look at a Bristol 411 for sale at Andrew Blow and were now attempting to get to the Moulton Factory before they closed.
"You have to see these bikes!" said John, and see them we did. In fact as soon as we arrived we were offered a test ride on their track at the rear of the offices. There is a tenuous link to Bristol Cars, I later found out that the designer of the Bikes, Dr Alex Moulton CBE RDI FEng (9th April 1920 - 9th December 2012) also worked as an engineer at the luxury car company.
I've linked the website, the company has a fascinating history producing a very unique bicycle that is definitely, an object of desire.
