Matthew Postlethwaite: “The song is very personal for me. BRAVE, Is about finding our inner strength, through all the adversities and struggles that we go through. Acknowledging who we are and being BRAVE enough to continue.
It’s a song about mental health, it’s a song about coming to terms with; your sexuality, a break up, a divorce. It’s synonymous.
BRAVE explores a person’s struggle to ultimately find comfort in their true identity.
It’s an empowering song.” “Pia Toscano Vocals are any writers dream, a true powerhouse”

Hi Matthew - did you make a conscious decision about acting?
I did, I have always wanted to be an Actor. Growing up I always dreamt of living in Los Angeles and being and acting in movies. I now am. And It's exciting. Sitting here writing this to you now and reflecting on my life, It's definitely been a journey. But I am so grateful for where I am right now.
What inspires you?
I love real stories. I love telling them in an authentic way when I act or write.
Real people inspire me. It's not necessarily the Hollywood stars that inspire me, But the greats that have walked this earth before me, those people that have managed to alter history. Harriet Tubman, Martin luther king jr, Harvey Milk, Vincent Van Gogh
Attention to craft inspires me.
Was acting your first love - any other creative talents - Writing - painting -
Acting was always my first passion, even before I could understand what it was. Painting followed closely. Though I did fall out of love with painting for a few years when I was kicked out of Art School because my teacher said I wasn't "Talented Enough". I later found my love for it once again and haven't stopped since. Though admittedly I only really paint for myself now, and the enjoyment of it. When I had my art show in New York City my Art Agent had a really tough time convincing me. Partially because they are created just for myself and I think because of the negative judgement I felt from my school days.
I'd love to see some of your work!
Writing is a new passion of mine. Though I only write scripts for Film and TV. I am heavily Dyslexic, but I have to admit I do love the fact that I am. My writing is vastly different because of it. Before I submit a script, I have someone who checks the spelling, it's an added step but definitely necessary haha.
My writing comes from a place of what stories need to be told. Currently I am working on two Feature films and a TV series, all vastly different. It keeps it exciting.
(Matthew I'm a left handed dyslexic magazine editor/writer! I share your pain...)
Going cliche now but I think it’s important - favourite film growing up? Actor?
Rebel Without A Cause, The Godfarther, Blue Jasmine
Actor - Marlon Brando, Meryl Streep,
Favourite book, are you a reader?
I am, I'm reading more than I ever have. Currently I am reading Touched with Fire By Kay Redfield Jamison, Broken People By Sam Lansky. I tend to read books that I hope will inspire me creatively.
Thanks Matthew - and good luck with Awards, and in your future projects. (not that you need it x) best pp x
