The novel is about identity, Ross talked about an occasion when interviewing a mid fielder when researching. He said as soon as his team mates left them alone, he transformed into an eloquant intelegent conversationalist...
Ross was surprised and questioned him on it...
"You can't be different in a football team" he replied....
