I have to declare an interest in this piece, namely I consider Pete to be my Friend and listen to 'The Trumping Men' by Campag Velocet on a regular basis. My lovely Jo will testify to this.
​I have also ordered a belt from Pete, along with one for my best friend John P.
Stop Press! That's a picture of mine below, Pete made me a left handed belt because being left handed I feed my belts into my belt loops to the right, and I didn't want the embossed logo upside down. 😊

My Lovely Left Handed Voss Belt

After I wrote this article I realised that Pete has been lovingly making belts for nearly 35 years! That is a craftsman, but I also like to think that my belt, along with every VOSS BELT has a little piece of music in it as well. Lets Call It - Bon Chic -pp-

How did the belt making start Pete?​

I was living in squats in Brighton in the 1970s as a kid...I saw a guy staying there who was a leather artisan...and was immediately fascinated...at the age of 14...I bought some leather-working tools a hide and a leatherwork book...looked at the pictures coz i couldn't read well enough and got started Belt making.

I remember belt making materials in your old flat in Tufnell Park Pete,  when you were in Campag Velocet, you've carried on making belts alongside your music?

​Yes from when I started at 14 which was in 1984, It's been something I've been doing on & off the whole time, alongside my music yes in varying degrees. 

I know your a perfectionist Pete, are you part of the whole belt making process? Is it all you?

Yes I painstakingly select premium Italian Hides. I select about 1 in every 100 I see then hand-cut each strap and check both sides for cracks or blemishes...mark out and cut from the templates I have designed...all holes are punched by hand..edge creased split boned polished embossed edge dyed buckles are polished and riveted...everything by my Own Hand...A Voss Belt is a truly Hand-Crafted piece of Art.

​Finally, for me it was a 100 club gig because you were brilliant and as you came off stage you passed me and said "Alright paulie..." And I felt 7 foot tall....
Favourite gig with Campag Velocet Pete Voss?

Favourite Gig was at The Astoria in 1999, before it was raised to the ground for the cross rail train station.
