Drinking Water+
-Plastic Bottles?
With plastic water bottles cluttering up the whole of the Phacemag office, a chance email offering to send us a water filter to test has radically reduced our plastic bottles corner. I had been thinking for a while that something had to be done. It was getting rediculous, especially in the hot weather!
I don't mind drinking tap water but it made sense to filter it and I have to thank Zerowater for the push in the right direction, albeit in the shape of a sample! Without being too kind I have to say it works very well! We have consulted an expert who recommends a filter with similar spec to this one and also recommends changing it at regular intervals.
To partner the filtered water we chose the Ion8 bottle to use, (see below) we love the design and the easy twist top! It's aimed at children I think but it's great for slipping into my bag! There are lots of similar flasks to choose from, but again this one is great, and I do use it every day. (And it comes in lovely colours: Fran).
Unfortunately whatever water filter or bottle you choose the main problem I foresee is the consistency of use! Plastic bottles of ice cold water promoting health and vitality are so very convienient and abundant! We think it's time for the well known companies to put some profit into designing plastic free containers in which to sell us water.
In addition to saving on our use of plastic bottles we've also saved a few £, which is good! Try it! - best pp

There are many different opinions on how much water you should be drinking every day. Health authorities commonly recommend eight 8-ounce glasses, which equals about 2 liters, or half a gallon.
