But she was a very respected naturalist (she became an expert in Mycology and challenged the Kew Garden experts!) Her love of nature led to her painting landscapes and illustrating Flora and Fauna.
She wrote countless childrens books all of which have almost scientific like drawings of plants and animals as a back drop.
She died of heart disease but not before she purchased vast amounts of land in her beloved Lake District.
Most of which is now protected by the National Trust.
