PHACEMAG - REVIEW
Pokey LaFarge @ KOKO Camden Town London 13-3-18
STAGE TIMES: ESTHER ROSE: 7.45PM POKEY LAFARGE: 8.45PM
Koko was packed on Tuesday night and also I may add thoroughly entertained by the Brilliant Pokey Lafarge!
Despite his band lacking a key player through an accident, Pokey played a stomping set with songs ranging in styles reminiscent of early Johnny Cash, Hank Williams and The Everly Brothers. He was briefly joined on stage by a female singer/guitarist and when the set was ended, the packed venue enthusiastically cheered for an encore, which was greeted with whoops and whistles. Then it was over. A brief sparkle of joy on a rainy Tuesday night. Back to work for us and back to St Louis, Missouri for the band. - Fran Suzi |
