The brief was simple.
Let's use a swanky restaurant for a quick bite to eat?

Plum & Spilt Milk in the Great Western hotel Kings Cross....
The name was taken from the London and North Western railway's dining car. (flying Scotsman don't you know) First impressions? This is a stylish place! We are shown to our seats and genuinely made to feel at home. I tell our waiter we have a limited time and would like to order straight away. |

We decide on 2 dishes to share, 1 from the starter menu....and 1 main, with 2 side dishes. I request it all arrive together which it promptly does.
We fell silent apart from the odd mmmmm and me slurping the excellent Merlot. Everything we ordered was deliciously tasty, and Jo and I both agreed substantial for 2.
We might have ordered too much Merlot?
Nah.....
"We'll be back for an evening." we promised, and with smiles walked out into an ever so cosmopolitan Kings Cross?
Starter/ Smoked haddock fish pie with a poached egg in the middle and a lovely Hollandaise sauce.
Main/ Cotswold white chicken with glazed chicory and pink grapefruit.
A side of French fries and Spring greens with fresh bread and butter.
Bottle of Merlot
Around £70 with (excellent) service
